Take the ACT again, or now if you haven’t already. Register online at www.actstudent.org (Fee waivers available if you qualify)
Start collecting letters of recommendation and writing essays for college and scholarship applications
Keep a calendar of important deadlines for college admission and financial aid.
Apply for a Federal Student Aid(FSA) ID at fsaid.ed.govso you can e-sign the FAFSA for faster processing. Have one of your parents do the same.
October-November
Beginning October 1st, file your FAFSA online at www.fafsa.ed.gov
Participate in Utah College Application Week October 18-22nd
Attend FAFSA Completion night October 21st 5-7PM

Submit college applications by priority deadlines for Academic/Merit Scholarships – THESE DATES ARE SUBJECT TO CHANGE BY THE INSTITUTIONS

Apply for admissions scholarships such as diversity, alumni, needs-based, involvement, and ambassador scholarships. (USU’s deadline is January 10th)
Apply for departmental scholarships if you know what you want to major in. Check the University/College websites to find these or see your counselor for help.
Apply for BTECH, and CTE scholarships if seeking a technical certification.
February
Confirm receipt of your FAFSA and Admission application with your colleges.
March
Look for your Student Aid Report (SAR) in the mail; you should receive it within 2-4 weeks after filing online.
Review the SAR, if required; send any additional information to the colleges to complete the admissions and/or financial aid process.
April-May
Be sure to accept scholarships and admissions offers by their deadlines (or you could lose them!)
Write thank you notes for any scholarships received
